Portugal By Design is a documentary project and public archive of conversations with people who have chosen to make Portugal home. Through diverse stories and perspectives, we explore the many ways people intentionally create their lives here.
People with interesting stories, not necessarily interesting careers.
We’re interested in people who have embraced change, followed their curiosity, built something meaningful, contributed to their community, or simply have a thoughtful perspective on life in Portugal.
You don’t need to be well known to have a story worth sharing.
Absolutely. In fact, many of the best conversations begin with a recommendation from a friend, neighbor, colleague, or family member.
We’ll review every submission. If we think there’s a good fit, we’ll get in touch to learn more and discuss the possibility of recording a conversation.
No. Portugal By Design is a curated archive, so we won’t be able to feature everyone. Every recommendation is appreciated and carefully considered.
Not really.
They’re relaxed, long-form conversations with no script and no agenda beyond genuine curiosity. The goal is to explore ideas, experiences, and the many different ways people are designing their lives in Portugal.
No. Participation is entirely voluntary.
Most conversations are recorded in person somewhere in Portugal. If that’s not practical, we’ll discuss other options.
